Editing Services
Proofreading
A professional editor reviews your manuscript for grammatical, spelling, punctuation or other basic errors present in the book. The editor ensures that your text is clean and is as free from error as possible.
Cost: $0.02/word ($250 minimum)
Copyediting
A proofread is the basic level and actually is most often completed AFTER the book has gone through copyediting. Our copyeditor not only looks for basic editors under proofing, but also looks at the structure, flow, and consistency of the text. Our editors add queries and suggest basic structural changes. The objective is to improve readability. This is our most used editorial service.
Cost: $0.025/word ($250 minimum)
Substantive Editing
Sometimes you need assistance with deciding what to include and what not to include in your text. This service is a combination of a copyedit and a literary critique. Here your manuscript is not only reviewed for errors, but also for strengths and areas of improvement. These may include storyline, character development, focus, and overall structure. A solid book is one that gets your point across in the best manner.
Cost: $0.03/word ($250 minimum)
Multi-Round Editing
Development Editor – A developmental edit is a thorough and in-depth edit of your entire manuscript. It is an examination of all the elements of your writing, from single words and the phrasing of individual sentences, to overall structure and style. It can address plot holes or gaps, problematic characterization and all other existing material. Our developmental edit also takes in to account your target audience and your ultimate goals for your book. Only once your manuscript has been cut, reshaped, revised, and developed will it be ready for a copy edit and proofread.
Cost: $0.06/word ($250 minimum)
Ghostwriter – Do you have a story or idea but are not able to put pen to paper? A ghostwriter is a qualified professional who can take your ideas and do the technical writing to produce a cohesive text. We begin with a phone consultation then move to creating an outline. Through interviews with you, the first draft is completed and provided for your review.
Cost: Estimated upon consultation. This is a highly customized service for which cost and timeline must be calculated on an individual basis. Cost is estimated upon consultation. An initial writing sample is available for $199 (applied toward cost if purchased).
Post-Production Proofread
After your book has been formatted, it is important to go over it once more to make sure spacing and any errors that slipped through are caught. This is one step that traditional publishing houses take that adds to the enhanced quality of their work. The proofreader seeks out and eliminates anything that makes your book less readable, looking for any editorial mistakes, heading errors, bad line breaks, mis-formatted text, or incorrect design elements.
Cost: $0.009/word ($250 minimum)
